Critical illness cover PDF Print E-mail

For insurance business we arrange policies exclusively through Legal & General

Specified critical illnesses and disabilities

  • Legal & General's Critical Illness Insurance is designed to cover those critical illnesses which could have a severe impact on your lifestyle.
  • If you choose to buy their Critical Illness Cover, it will only pay out if you are diagnosed with one of the specified critical illnesses or disabilities listed on the policy during the period of cover and are eligible to claim. All illnesses covered by this plan are consistent with the current view of critical illness held by the medical profession and the Association of British Insurer's list of critical illnesses.
  • Below is a full list of specified critical iIllnesses and disabilities covered and all must be verified by a medical specialist who is a Consultant at a UK hospital and who is accepted by Legal & General's Chief Medical Officer.
  • At no extra cost children are also covered for the critical illness and disabilities listed, except for Total and Permanent Disability or any congenital, familial and pre-existing condition. Subject to terms and conditions.
  • Advances in medicine and technology mean that traditional views of critical illnesses are changing. For example, not all types of cancer are covered by this insurance, because not all types of cancer have a severe impact on lifestyle if discovered early enough.
  • Please remember that the heading of each critical illness is only a guide to what is covered. Further details of how Legal & General will consider your claim, including the full definitions they will use and the evidence they will need, are given in the Policy Document, Protection Technical Guide and Legal & General's Guide to Critical Illness Cover. The Protection Technical Guide and Legal & General's Guide to Critical Illness Cover are available on request.
